Lead Physician is a consulting organisation that pays honoraria for
completing surveys on behalf of the diagnostics industry [and other
health related industries in other specialties]. A bit like Yougov.com,
but unlike Yougov, they pay a reasonable amount per interview. They have
been trying for quite some time to get histopathologists to answer a
consultation about the use of molecular diagnostics for interpretation
of cancer slides. They say that to be a member you have to be a
practicing physician or a person working in a profession allied to
healthcare [so you might be able to get membership if you are a hospital
cleaner, but not if you just empty the bins].
They usually try to get new members by asking for referrals from someone
who is a member - and they pay the referring person if they rercruit
anyone. Therefore, it is possible that someone gave (sold) them details
of a lot of other people to claim their thirty pieces of silver.
Overall, they are quite harmless. I have been asked to complete several
surveys - but on topics related to histopathology and microbiology, so I
have not yet managed to acquire any amazon vouchers from them; so I
don't know how good they are at paying up...
TIM.

I had a similar call and yes the lady said she was from
leadphysician.com. I said I would look at their website but was not
willing to give them my e-mail address.
Strange thing is how would they have got telephone numbers but not know
our e-mail addresses?

This is a company called lead physician:
http://www2.leadphysician.com/
They are American and I said yes to all the questions and then filled
the e mail in "deleted" so I shouldn't hear any more (fingers crossed).
I have also added their e mail address to my junk list so they are
blocked.

Subject: Odd phone call
Dear all,
I received a call yesterday from a lady with a foreign accent from an
agency that I did not know.
'You Dr Shapiro? you clinical biochemist? I make you honorarium for
reviewing cases on line''
I can only assume someone was fishing for my bank account details. I
know I respond to nearly all NEQAS cases for comment but who on earth
would want to make me an offer like that?
Can anyone shed any light on this?
