Jean, I've already mentioned something to Ralph re: Mrs. and, since I count him among my dearest friends, no death threats were involved.  

I'm happy to contact Michael O'Brien.  Ralph, can you contact Sarah?  I'm happy to try Madonna Moss and Rob Losey, for what it's worth.  Unless you, Ralph, have a hankering to do so.  Just let me know.  

I have paid SAA to be a participant in the bead session, but when I try to register my chair role for our session, the system isn't acknowledging my payment.  Maybe the system needs a few hours to register my payment??

Looks good, thanks.  Emily may kill you for the Mrs. title but that will be between the two of you.

With luck we will net a few more interested parties and be viable in size for the SAA committee folks.  I did find out that if they do not accept our session we can get our registration fees refunded.

And if it runs but runs small, no problem, it gets us there and gets us started and we can continue to recruit and keep the pub goal.

I did hear back from Vanderwarker and Butler, both too over-committed but wish us well.  I am not worried about filling in more discussants - we will be fine there and it is an optional role anyway.  But it would be nice to get a couple more presenters.

If any of us thinks of someone else in particular we would like to invite as a presenter, I think there is no harm in continuing to do that.

If one of you can commit to doing a personal follow-up with Michael O'Brien, due back in country this weekend, that would be great - he'll have plenty else on his mind and it might help him to have our session abstract in front of him again.  Emily - do you want to do that, since you know his work?

I did get my abstract uploaded.  So with Ralph, me, and Michael we'd have three.  If Heather Lapham replies in the positive we could have four, and I think that would be enough to run a session.

Dear Zooarch Listserve users, 

I would like to extend an invitation to any researchers interested in participating in a proposed zooarchaeology session at the 2013 Society for American Archaeology meetings that be held in April 2013 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The session titled "Both Meat and Meaning", intends to blend ecologically based zooarchaeological research with explorations of the social and symbolic values of animals. Explicit targeting of methods and application to a solid data set will be key ingredients in the papers presented. 

Attached is a session abstract with further details. Final abstracts are due to the SAA in early September, hence we are requesting that abstracts are submitted for review before September 1, 2012. Abstracts can be mailed to either of my two addresses: [log in to unmask] or [log in to unmask] I will be co-chairing the session with Dr. Jean L. Hudson and Mrs. Emily Mueller-Epstein MS., both of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I apologize for the short notice, but alas, studying change over time does not allow us to change time.
