Hi
No information but worked at a faactory needing audiometry, they produced
hydraulics for big trucks so lots of high pitched noise they were arguing
over music stations, I advised against it as above the level of noise from
the cutting machines. In the end the environmental health dept sorted it out
by advising the neighbours in the area had complained about the noise(music)
levels at night, so double whammey, no additional noise from music, already
had more than was safe from the machinery.

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Stress caused by music played at work?
Hi All,
Does anyone have any information on potential adverse effects of music on
stress levels?
There have been some complaints about the type of music played in our
production
environment, particularly weekend night music, which some of our older
workers find
quite offensive, and which is reportedly causing an increase in stress
levels.
I want to point management in the direction of some current information
while they look
at how to manage this. (Radio headphones/ipods etc are not an option -
although I have
suggested ear plugs as a temporary option to one individual!).
Many thanks,
Roisin
