Hi Alan,
Rochdale Library Service is doing it at Langley Library using one of the
public laptops that are usually used in their Online Basics sessions.
These are used to give customers the chance to have a some hands-on
experience of the type of equipment they could buy from a local shop (as
opposed to the ones on our network that are necessarily locked-down to
prevent any misuse). Internet access is effected with a pay-as-you-go
dongle. Skype's one of the services that are regularly enquired about so
that's become one of the regular "you've completed Online Basics now
let's have a look at some other things you might find useful" topics.

Subject: Macmillan (Dear Zoo) Skype event.
Hi,
Appologies for cross posting
Will any library be able to participate in this event that was promoted
by the reading agency? Our ICT dept will not let us install skype on any
library computers, and I wondered if any authority has been allowed to
do this. When the question was asked on these lists last year, there
were a few responses, but they were all "we are not allowed to install
skype". I would be interested to hear from libraries that have got it as
I would like to put a case together for it to be installed on some PN
machines.
Thanks for any info
