Dear Colleagues
Does anyone know where the archives of the British Freeland Association are held (if they exist at all)? The National Register for Archives doesn't have a record for them and Google didn't produce anything useful.
The Association was formed in the 1890s after Theodor Hertzka wrote and published "Freeland - A Social Anticipation". From what I know of it the British Freeland Association was quite active, sending two expeditions to Africa in the 1890s. Alfred Russel Wallace was vice-president and I know he wrote at least two letters to them, dated 1st December 1892 and 10th February 1894 - it is these letters I am interested in locating if they still survive.
I am aware of some letters at the BL from the British Freeland Association to Wallace - their offices, according to their letters to Wallace were located at Newman Street, London.
Any advice gratefully received, please reply off-list.
