Dear All,
The abstract submission deadline for AGU (2012) fall meeting is approaching rapidly (August 8th). We would like you to consider your abstract submissions to our session:
T019: Geodynamics of Unstable Continental Lithosphere
Lithospheric instability is called upon in a wide range of continental tectonic regimes, from orogenic zones to cratonic areas and through geologic time from the Archean to present-day. Such instabilities may lead to removal of the sub-crustal lithosphere and portions of the crust. A host of surface geological observables have been attributed to such lithospheric instability events, including: topographic uplift/subsidence, elevated heat flow, anomalous mantle seismicity, and crustal deformation. Many fundamental questions remain about how lithospheric instability occurs, what effect it has on the remainder lithosphere, etc. We invite inter-disciplinary contributions that consider these and other issues regarding lithospheric instability.
