The Institute of Science, Technology and Society, Tsinghua University in
China is looking for
an Assistant Professor (full-time, tenure-track) in History of Science
and Technology
The Institute of Science, Technology and Society, Tsinghua University is
one of the pioneers in China who have conducted STS related research and
teaching science 1985, and probably one of the biggest STS groups all
over the world, which have about 20 full-time faculties, 20
post-doctoral research fellows, as well as 80 graduate and international
joint-training students.
Tsinghua University is a top 2 university in China. At present, Tsinghua
has 14 schools and 56 departments with faculties in science,
engineering, humanities, law, medicine, history, philosophy, economics,
management, education and art. The University has now over 25,900
students, including 13,100 undergraduates and 12,800 graduate students.
As one of China’s most renowned universities, Tsinghua has become an
important institution for fostering talent and scientific research.
Offer
You are appointed as assistant professor (full-time). A Tenure Track
contract enables you to direct your own career based on fixed
performance agreements, in relation to which promotion from assistant
professor to associate professor and subsequently to full professor is
possible. A definitive assessment will take place no later than 6 years
(2 employment terms) after commencement of the employment, following
which employment for an indefinite period and promotion to associate
professor may be agreed upon.
Salary is paid by the university according to a certain criteria. Other
benefits include, you will get the opportunity to rent the university
apartment at an extremely reasonable price, and you can also have the
priority to send your kids to the university’s kinder garden, primary
and middle school.
Qualifications
As our qualified candidate, you should hold a Ph.D. in philosophy of
Science and Technology or STS in WORLD TOP UNIVERSITIES. A fluent
language capability in both Chinese and English is also needed. You also
have experience in teaching at the university level, preferably
including students in science & engineering, social science, or other
non-STS fields, and preferably including professional and/or applied STS
topics. You should as well have an excellent list of publications in
peer-refereed journals, and have relevant international experience.
