Half of district's 26 libraries face axe or voluntary takeover
Or Half of the district libraries will be developed so that 'the residents of Wakefield will have a hub library service
which meets their current and anticipated future needs, as determined in all stages of public consultation, and one which fulfils the Council’s statutory duty, under the 1964 Libraries Act. The future provision will be fit for purpose, flexible, deliver service enhancements and will fulfil the councils statutory requirements to deliver a ‘comprehensive and
efficient library service’.
Yes I know you are making a bigger point but let us not forget that there are professional librarians who deserve respect for trying to deliver a quality library service to their communities. They may not want to be starting from where they are but this is part of what being a professional is all about.
