Dear Colleagues,
We invite you to submit an abstract to the following session at the Fall
AGU Meeting 3-7 December, 2012 in San Francisco,
http://fallmeeting.agu.org/2012/
Session GP05 - Crustal and mantle sources of magnetic anomalies.
http://fallmeeting.agu.org/2012/session-search/single/crustal-and-mantle-sources-of-magnetic-anomalies/
Session sponsored by:
Geomagnetism and Paleomagnetism (GP)
Volcanology, Geochemistry, and Petrology (V)
Session Description:
Magnetic anomalies constitute one of our primary sources of information
for deep earth structures. These anomalies provide valuable insights on
the architecture of the lithosphere both in oceanic and continental
domains. For example, the Curie depth can be used to evaluate the thermal
state of the crust. The launch of the three satellite mission SWARM
promises a new generation of high quality data that will complement our
knowledge gained from Magsat, POGO, Oersted and CHAMP. This session aims
to bring together potential field geophysicists and rock magneticists to
discuss the current state of our understanding of sources, deep and
shallow, of crustal and mantle origin.
Invited Speakers:
Laurie Brown (University of Massachusets)
Richard Blakely (USGS, Menlo Park)
David Clarke (CSIRO, Australia)
Deadline for abstract submissions is 8 August 2012 23:59 EDT/03:59 +1 GMT.
