Thanks, Chris. Interestingly, this one seems to have affected approximately the same area as the great earthquake of 3. January 1117. The latter did a lot of damage, especially in Verona (which seems to have been close to its epicenter) and in other parts of the Veneto (e.g. Padua, where it destroyed the late antique basilica of St. Justina) but also in Lombardy, where it destroyed what was then the not yet fully built cathedral of Cremona, and in Emilia, where it badly damaged the abbey church of St. Sylvester at Nonantola (in today's Modena province) not far from the border with the Romagna.
This time the epicenter was in Emilia, near Finale Emilia in Modena province a little farther north than Nonantola. See the map here: <http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Modena_mappa.png>. One medieval monument that was badly damaged is Finale Emilia's mostly fifteenth-century Castello delle Rocche, now a museum. See: <http://tinyurl.com/d82dsmw>.
