medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Herewith a link to an earlier 'Saints of the day' for 28. May (including Sts. Emilius, Priamus, and Lucianus; St. Heliconis; St. Germanus of Paris; St. William of Gellone; Bl. Lanfranc of Bec and of Canterbury; St. Ubaldesca):

Further to Emilius, Priamus, and Lucianus:
In that earlier post's notice of these saints, the third paragraph should read:
Whereas much of this recognition appears not to antedate the later sixteenth century, in the diocese of Cagliari the churches dedicated to E. (as Gemiliano / Milia[n]u) at Sestu (CA) and at Samassi (VS) are originally from the latter half of the thirteenth century. Each replaced an earlier church at its site. At Samassi this predecessor was dedicated to St. Mamilianus and is recorded from 1118 or 1119 as belonging to the monastery of that name on Montecristo in the Tuscan archipelago; when its titular began to be viewed instead as the local saint E. / G. is unknown (the connection with the aforementioned monastery, should it have lasted this long, will have been severed in the 1320s when Pisan rule in the former judicate of Cagliari was replaced by Aragonese rule) .

In that earlier post's notice of these saints, the first of the links to illustrated pages on the chiesa di San Gemiliano at Samassi (VS) no longer functions. Use instead this link to a vastly better illustrated page calling the church by its initial titulature:

Further to Heliconis:
In the third paragraph of that earlier post's notice of this saint, for 'Pantocrator' please read 'Holy Ascension'.

Further to William of Gellone:
In that earlier post's notice of this saint, the link to the later fourteenth-century fresco depicting him that is now in the Cappella di Santa Barbara in Naples' Castel Nuovo no longer functions. Use this instead:
