We are proud to announce the recent publication of a special issue of 1895. Revue d'histoire du cinéma (AFRHC), devoted to the history of film professions in France up to 1945 and including a DVD with seven rare films. This issue, edited by Laurent Le Forestier and Priska Morrissey, is published in collaboration with the University of Rennes 2 and with the support of the French Film Archives-CNC. PRESENTATION
This special issue of 1895 revue d’histoire du cinéma, devoted to the history of film professions in France up to 1945 and including a DVD, is published in collaboration with the University of Rennes and with the support of the French Film Archives-CNC. The aim of this issue is to open up a largely unexplored field of research, proposing not only case studies of specific film professions (designer, screenwriter, sound engineer, composer, etc.) but also more wide-ranging articles about studio hiring practices, training of actors, trade unions, etc. This issue is accompanied by a DVD containing 7 rare films that show this important off-screen dimension of the film industry.

Published three times per year, 1895 REVUE DʼHISTOIRE DU CINEMA is the journal of the AFRHC, the French association for research in film history (association française de recherche sur l’histoire du cinéma). Yearly subscription rates are only 30 euros for students, 40 euros for standard members, and 60 euros for institutions. Single issues are available at 20 euros each.
