Due to the inceasingly large number of off-air recordings we are now making, we are once again investigating the possibility of upgrading our current ERA licence to an ERA+ licence.
I realise that any off-air recordings streamed and made available via an ERA+ licence will entail the implementation of suitable security or password protection system to prevent anyone accessing them outside of the UK. But, as I also understand it, at least we'll be able to provide access to off-air recordings to our registered staff and students anywhere in the UK and not just from within the institution's premises as with our current, ordinary ERA licence (please do correct me if I'm wrong on this).
Would anyone whose institution has an ERA+ licence be willing to let me have you views on ERA+ and if the considerably higher licence fee has proved to be worth the cost? In fact any pros or cons relating to ERA+ would be gratefully received.
Ideally I would like to receive any responses by Friday 18th May at the latest, so I can collate the information in time to help inform a managers' meeting the following week. I look forward to your responses. I'll post the findings here in a few weeks time.
regards
Rich
