medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
From: Kurt Sherry <[log in to unmask]>
> Cecilia, I'll have to do a little digging. I seem to remember that Robert
Taft has done some work on it and there are a couple of articles (but I'm
drawing blanks on names) on the influence of Jerusalem practice more generally
on Constantinopolitan liturgy, especially for Lent and Holy Week (this was
greatly heightened after 1204 because of the Latin disruption to Studite
dominance, so when the Byzantines recovered the capital, they brought in a
bunch Sabaites to reorganize the Church).
Yaroslav would have a pretty good brain to Pique about this issue as well,
obviously.
