Agree with all that Susan has said but this bit of your mail is
interesting
"......although I know they will come back to me asking for a
prescription that stipulates what hours she can work and even what
breaks she is entitled to?"
I kinda think one of your priorities could be a little bit of training
and education for managers - along the lines of what they should and
shouldnt be doing, their responsibilities and the fact that, while you
are undoubtedly wonderful, you dont have a crystal ball or a magic wand
Your lady wanted to reduce her hours, if you werent going to recommend
it then she would get the GP or midwife to. I honestly cant see what it
is that they want to to add to this.....

As it is not your recommendation I'd stick to 'you couldn't possibly
comment on the findings of an assessment done by another clinician who
may be in possession of health information you are not privy to when
they came to their conclusion'.
You have already made your assessment and given your findings - leave
this with management to agree directly as you are 'not adding value'
here
'adding value' = 'give a monkeys' or more diplomatically 'making best
use of resources by not wasting them on things that should be done by
others' and can be employed in sentences with management such as 'I am
not sure how I can add value to this' or 'can you tell me how you think
I can add value here because I'm not quite seeing it'

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Pregnancy
Hi List
Last week I sought advice about one of my pregnant employees who is
30/40 and was requesting to reduce her working hours with immediate
effect. I took on board some of your advice and recommended that she
used the First Aid Room to rest on certain times to reduce the fatigue,
use of a leg rest rest to help with the swelling and that I would review
her in a couple of weeks or even earlier if required. She has been to
see her GP who has recommended that she reduces her hours and she has
come back asking for my opinion. Should I leave this issue with
Management to sort out the hours although I know they will come back to
me asking for a prescription that stipulates what hours she can work and
even what breaks she is entitled to?
Regards
Sandra
