Thanks for your note. I tend to agree. To one paragraph, I'll add the nuance
of Herbert Blumer's approach to symbolic interactionist methods and the
use of sensitizing concepts. Of course, Blumer was sharply critical of much
social science research. His presidential speech when elected president of
the American Sociological Association was a case in point. Triangulating
across multiple methods with sensitivity to potential signals and trends is
vital.
