medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Herewith a link to an earlier 'Saints of the day' for 13. March (including St. Sabinus of Hermopolis; St. Pientius; St. Leander of Seville; St. Heldradus; St. Ansovinus; Bl. Peter II of Cava de' Tirreni; Bl. Agnellus of Pisa):

Further to Sabinus of Hermopolis:
In that earlier post's notice of this saint, the first of the links to views of the re-erected columns of Hermopolis' fifth-century basilica of the BVM no longer functions. Use this instead:

Further to Ansovinus:
In that earlier post's notice of this saint, the page of multiple views, with some architectural details, of the chiesa di Sant'Ansovino in Arcevia's _frazione_ of Avacelli is proving difficult to load.
Today (13. March) is also the feast day of:
Gerald of Mayo (d. earlier 8th cent.). Virtually nothing is known reliably about G. (Old Irish: Garalt, Garailt), an early bishop of Mayo. Irish annals place his death either in 726 or in 732. His legendary, late fourteenth-century Vita by Augustine Magraidin (BHL 3416) makes him an Anglo-Saxon who had been an abbot at Winchester before following St. Colman of Lindisfarne in his post-Whitby withdrawal to Ireland, who became head first of a monastery in Connacht and then of the newly founded monastery at Mayo (today's Mayo Abbey in county Mayo) where he was the first bishop, and who was noted for miracles both lifetime and posthumous. Gerald has yet to grace the pages of the RM.
Some views, etc. of the remains of the early monastery at Mayo Abbey and of its later medieval Augustinian successor:
