Dear all
My name is Jenny Lloyd a 1st year PhD student at Newcastle University. I'm contacting the list because I really need to some help regarding my visa to Singapore and the Singaporean embassy have been less than helpful.I thought that someone may have already had experiences of this in regards to fieldwork or institutional visits etc.
I am hoping to do my fieldwork in Singapore between September and June (9 months) and as such my stay would be well over the 30 days granted to UK visitors. I will not be employed in Singapore or within the National University of Singapore (although my University and supervisor, Peter Hopkins, has several contacts there) so I don't qualify for a working or student visa.
Does anyone have any advice of what I could do or how I could go about extending my visa. I have heard about jumping over the border but that would only extend it 2 weeks or another 30 days, and it is unlikely that I could do this 8 times.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards
Jenny Lloyd
