Interesting that FOB has just come up as a topic
The condition that these tests are used for is estimated to have a prevalence in the relevant age group of about 2%
That, if my maths is correct gives a LR for predicting abnormality of about 1.5 at current cut-off values, and an LR of being "normal" of 0.66 for tests 1-3
For comparison, I think FOB has values of the order of 7.4 and 0.37 [Sensitivity approx. 67% Specificity around 90%]
The tests...........................
1 - Total sperm count
2 - Percentage motile sperm
3 - Abnormal morphology
Data taken from NEJM 2001;345:1388-1393, recent [2010 paper in Fertil Steril also seems to confirm data consistent]
