Yes, I agree. they should not have to be asked, they should just do it and not assume that anyone else is using a client like theirs. If they want their text to be read, it would probably best to make it reasonably readable to others. it is just common netiquette to make your email as readable to everyone as you can, that is after all the norm. to take the opposite position is basically saying that people should conform to your preference, which is fine of course, we all prefer to do what is best for any single member of the community, and not what is best and most readable for all.
