medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
On 02/05/12, I sent:
> Blasius' martyrdom as depicted in the late eleventh- or very early twelfth-century frescoes of the Chapelle des Moines at Berzé-la-Ville (Saône-et-Loire):

Er, this is clearly a depiction of not of Blasius' / Blaise's martyrdom but rather of the end of the miracle story of that saint, the widow, and the pig. The description of it as portraying Blasius' martyrdom comes from the Web Gallery of Art <http://tinyurl.com/7phdcoa>, whose identification I copied without looking closely enough at the image itself. Apologies for the error.
> Blasius as depicted in the later twelfth-century mosaics of the Cappella Palatina in Palermo:

In this and in several other links my university's relatively recently adopted present e-mail client has secretly copied some additional code that stays hidden until after the message containing it has been sent; if the extra matter were visible to me when editing these messages it would of course be removed. In such cases (which are likely to continue to occur) the URL at the end of the line is a working link.
Best again,
John Dillon
