On 21st November Edxecel informed us that with efefct from 1st January all ESOL S&L exams would have to be video recorded.
Please can please advise:
1. are other awarding bodies also asking for this?
2. If you currently use Edxecel how are you managing the change to video recording?
I bought expensive dictaphones for last years exams, to ensure good quality recordings, but this came out of the blue and I hadn't budgetted for any major pruchases this year.
We use around 35 dictaphones across 5 sites for the week of the main S&L exams (they hold up to 1,000 hrs of recordings so can be used all 5 days morning afternoon and evening), slightly less for the immediate re-sits and then fewer still for the final re-sits in the summer.
I'm advised a decent quality digital camcorder with 1 SD card capable of about 8 hrs recording and a tripod will cost just over £250.
I've no idea how I can record all the exams at 5 (now possibly 6) sites across several days and that's apart from the problems with downloading the recordings to a secure area on the sytem , the amoutn of space this will take up and the fact we can't back it up because it will take too long because of the huge amount of data invloved.
Wanted some feedback but intend to raise the issue with Edxecel at the AoC conference, although their response to my email query was basically tough them's the new rules.
Thanks in advance for any responses.
