Hi Anoop,
I think we can use the example of the use of beta blocker in heart failure which has been shown to be very effective reducing mortality in spite of some case-reports of adverse event in acute heart failure.
We can also use cerebral hemorrhage in thrombolytic therapy when used for acute myocardial infarction. This therapy was shown to be overall very lifesaving.
These true severe adverse events mask important overall benefit when not studied rigorously.

Objet : Pitfalls of Anecdotal Evidence
Hi everyone,
I was looking for a book or a paper which explains what is wrong with anecdotal evidence/unsystematic observations or why we need an evidence- based-approach.
I am thinking of cognitive biases, problem of chance findings, statistical issues and such.
Thanks
Anoop
