Migration and Genetics Public Debate
The Migration Museum Project is hosting a public debate about migration and genetics at the Science Museum at 7.30 pm on Thursday 26th January 2012. Broadcaster George Alagiah will chair the seminar with speakers including the archaeologist and author David Miles, geneticist Dr Turi King and Yorkshire man John Revis, who shares the surprising results of his own DNA test.
One of the speakers will be Patrick Vernon Chief Executive of the Afiya Trust and a leading genealogist on African and Caribbean family history shares his story on using DNA.
The seminar has been organised by the Migration Museum Project www.migrationmuseum.org with support from the Science Museum. Led by Barbara Roche, a former immigration minister, the Migration Museum Project is seeking to create Britain's first major Migration Museum and aims to tell the story of movement into and out of the UK in a fresh and engaging way.
The seminar will be held at the Dana Centre, Science Museum, 165 Queen's Gate London SW7 5HD. There will be a drinks reception sponsored by the Science Museum from 6.30 to 7.30 pm, followed by the public debate.
