Conclusion: 'The complete and multidisciplinary analysis of the samples contained in the glass bottle of Chinon (presented as the ‘relics of Joan of Arc’) showed that they are not authentic. They are not consistent with burned remains of human (or animal) bone. The microscopic aspect and chemical composition of the blackish coatings were comparable with that of embalming products, such as those used by the old Egyptians; the results were confirmed by further carbon dating.'
