Dear all,
I am looking for references regarding the identification of microfauna from UK sites. Advice is also very welcome, as I was wandering for complete bones, what level of identification (species, genus ?) can be achieved with long bones. Also, is there a bone atlas for small mammals (UK or Europe species preferably) that can be used as a guide for identification?
Following a discussion on Zooarch about small bone id (Jacqui Huntley February 2009) I was wandering if someone had a copy of a document apparently put together by Jim Williams for the PZG meeting on microfauna held at Oxford Archaeology in 2006. I have found the PZG minutes but not the document that Jim Williams put together. Chris Gleed-Owen did a presentation on herpetofauna but I don't know if a document was put together. I am not a PZG member yet so there might be documents available for PZG members that I do not have access to.
I am also looking for the following article that was mentionned in the Zooarch discussion:
Fernandez-Jalvo, Y and Andrews P (1992) Small mammal taphonomy of Gran Dolina, Atapuerca (Burgos), Spain. Journal of Archaeological Science 19: 47-428.
Many thanks
Edouard
