Moving on a tangent from fish to marine mammals, would anyone have any information on the whale bones from Colchester, that Jacqui Mulville mentions in a ZooArch post from 2001 ("Another request on behalf of someone else - Roman sites with whale bone, in the UK and further afield. I know we found 'chopping blocks' at Colchester, East Anglia, and such thing are proported to be common."). Inconveniently for me, she is away from the office until after Christmas, and has therefore not replied to my email.
Any other information on whale bones from Roman sites in the UK would be appreciated.
With thanks,
Lena
