medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
"CORRODIAN", IIRC. I think the income donated was a CORRODY.

medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Greetings all,
I've been functioning in a foreign language so long that I can't remember
English! Can someone supply me with the term used for people who made a
donation to a religious institution (mostly monasteries, I expect) in
exchange for their upkeep for the remainder of their lives? "Proventu"
people in Icelandic, and I cannot think of the English term!
If anyone is working on this topic, I'd be happy to exchange data!
All the best for the holidays,
Meg
