I apologize for not replying earlier, but I have been without internet for some days and I will still be out of the office for a few more. As far as I remember, these lines are not present in any other teeth but on the canines, but as soon as I am back I will check with the microscope if the posterior teeth also show similar lines on the occlusal surface.
I do not know much about pathologies and I am not sure how this can be related to what we have discussed in this thread, but just in case... shall I mention that there is a possibility of this dog having some nutritional problems? Within the same contexts, 3 different dogs were found but, unfortunately, skeletons were not bagged separately, so I do not know which postcraneal bones belong to this particular individual. However, one of them has its long bones twisted - maybe rickets or osteomalacia? Could this be related to some of the interesting characteristics of the mandibles that are being discussed here?
Thanks to all of you who are taking part in this thread.
All the best,
Idoia
