SMA Student Travel Bursaries
“New Music in Britain” Conference
10–12 May 2012
Department of Music and Performing Arts, Canterbury Christ Church University
A limited number of bursaries are available for student members of the Society for Music Analysis (SMA) to assist with the cost of travel and accommodation for the conference “New Music in Britain”, which will be hosted by the Department of Music and Performing Arts at Canterbury Christ Church University, from 10-12 May 2012.
Post-graduate research students have to be members of the SMA at the time of application in order to be eligible for the travel bursaries. The SMA does not undertake to cover all expenses incurred, only to make a contribution towards the cost of participation in the conference. If there are a high number of applications preference may be given to students delivering papers.
Applications, which must include a short summary of the reasons for the student’s attendance and state the sum requested, should be sent to the Society's Treasurer and Administrator ([log in to unmask] – email size limit = 5MB) and arrive no later than four weeks before the event (i.e. by Thursday 12 April, 2012). Applicants will be notified of the outcome within a few days of this deadline.
If successful, the bursary will be awarded on production of receipts. Applicants are expected to pre-book transport in advance of the event in order to secure the most favourable fares; if this is not possible, reasons should be given in the application.
