Tim Bryan, Library Services Manager Harrow recently summarised what
Library Authorities charge for the loan of Orchestral and Vocal Sets.
I am interested in how Library Authorities manage the inter library loan
of these sets. I've been asked to review our own process and make
recommendations.
Cambridgeshire currently has an ageing collection of Vocal Sets
available for lending via inter library loan and to local music groups.
We also borrow both Orchestral and Vocal sets for these music groups.
The collection has not been maintained or added to for several years.
The sets are located in a storage facility not co-located with our
distribution centre or any of our libraries. The site is visited on a
weekly basis by a library assistant who processes new requests.
Our list of Vocal Scores is held in a pdf on the Web site and is not on
our catalogue. Music groups register to use the vocal scores and obtain
inter library loans for those not in stock using a paper based system.
Our library assistant uses Encore and IAML to source sets not in stock.
Please could you let me know the following:
Who manages your requests for music sets?
What resource/s do you use to source music sets?
Do you contribute data to these resources?
Do you maintain your own collection?
Where is it located?
Is your collection integrated into your catalogue?
I will summarise my findings for the group.
Thank you,
Nikki
