Same as Kirsty in North Yorkshire for the same reasons. We have Websense filtering for (websense terms) Adult/sexually explicit, Criminal skills, Hacking, Illegal drugs, Intolerance and hate, Proxies and Peer-to-Peer, Spyware, Violence, and Weapons. We used to insist on parents signing a form, but that inhibited a lot of younger users so was dropped. Social media sites are also available as is iPlayer etc. However some traffic shaping is done by IT to stop media streaming from crippling our bandwidth.
