Hola Neil,
I did this on an Invacare chair a while ago. I hooked up a switch to
a controller and used a Gameboy Advance SP for auditory feedback. The
switch opened/closed a relay that delivered power to the display box
thus turning on/off the chair on command. The trick was to place the
switch after the control box, that way it wouldn't mess with charge,
motor load, etc. I posted a diagram of the Invacare connection on the

I wondered about the legality / liability issues of doing this, but
my friend was getting his chair switched off by little buggers at school
and couldn't wait for the company to care. It worked for 1.5 years until
a technician pulled the cables and broke the display box trying to fix
something else. Of course, he blamed my rig.
