The answer is indeed 'yes'. This is possible using the Tecla Shield
(http://scyp.idrc.ocad.ca/projects/tekla/the-shield) an open-source
bluetooth device that connects to the handset. The device can be made
with off-the-shelf components and is also being commercialized by a
company I am also part of called Komodo OpenLab.
