Richard,
How can scoring systems in acute pancreatitis (Ranson 's to predict complications/mortality or similar ones) work without numbers provided by the lab ?

Regretfully, the clinicians will have to treat on clinical grounds rather than numerical
with best wishes

Dear Dr Tarn
Some ideas to consider
- ultra centrifugation
- serial dilutions
- try refrigerating the centrifuged sample: chylomicrons will float
whilst if the sample lipemia is due strictly to lipoproteins will remain
behind (with acute pancreatitis this is usually the case but worth
trying)

Subject: Grossly lipaemic sample
Apologies if this has been posted previously. We have received a
grossly lipaemic sample (L index >2500) in a patient with ?
Pancreatitis. Apart from using Lipoclear, which we don't have in stock,
are there any other manoeuvres could we perform in order to try to
obtain some results for the clinical team.
