Louise has raised a general issue, and we believe that UK NEQAS
Birmingham can provide a service to underpin the monitoring of
performance for multiple analysers, whether on a single site or multiple
sites
Our Network Reports enable you to see at a glance the EQA
performance of your analysers, at both current distribution and rolling
time window score levels, with recourse to the individual laboratory
reports to review any anomalies
We believe that this constitutes a necessary (though not sufficient in all
situations) solution, which can be shown to accreditation assessors as
evidence that you are addressing the issue. If the analysers & methods
are the same across your patch then any possible lack of
commutability for EQA specimens should not be a concern. If,
however, you have a 'mix & match' setup then it would be sensible to
supplement this ongoing regular monitoring of consistency with a
periodic exchange using fresh patients' specimens at a range of
concentrations (in the same way as you should check linearity
periodically)
To take advantage of this service (which is currently available at no
additional charge!), email [log in to unmask] with your
laboratory identifier code and we will send you full information and a
registration proforma
Best wishes
David
PS: We'd also be happy to discuss with CPA assessors . . .
