We too are doing "all of the colours in all of the sizes"*
Our approach is:
If a student is going to be "achieved", we have to have a Certificate
that matches the enrolment. So, if a student has completed the
Subsidiary Diploma and then the Diploma, we claim the Subsidiary Diploma
and then Top Up to the Diploma once the Certificate for the Subsidiary
Diploma has been issued.
I find myself constantly checking what the student is enrolled on
because some students started on one course and then dropped down to
another and the Certificate has to match the enrolment, not the original
registration.
If you do it all at the end, aside from the problem of having to explain
to an auditor why the student only have one certificate but enrolments
for two or three qualifications, it is very difficult to determine what
grade the student attained at each stage, unless of course, everything
was a pass.
I could go on - time, registration costs, staff (lack of) understanding
- but I won't.
If anyone has a better plan, I'd be delighted to hear it.
* even if you haven't seen the old BT advert, you can guess what I mean.

HI
This year we have enrolled learners to various vocational
qualifications, enrolling to the award 1 term, certificate 2nd term, and
diploma 3rd term. Please can you advise are you claiming separate
certificates for learners who complete at Diploma level, or just the
Diploma, and updating the ILR for the award and certificate at full
success, as the units are embedded within the Diploma.
Hope this makes sense, and would really appreciate an insight as to how
fellow colleagues are handling this at other colleges, as this is the
first time through for QCF - and we do not want to disgruntle auditors.
Many thanks

We start the exams at 9am and 1.30pm to ensure that late comers still
get the chance to do the exams. Our invigilators tend to come in an hour
before the start time to set up. Sometimes if we are using the sports
hall we allow 1.25 hours to get everything ready to start on time.

What times do you start your JCQ exams? Up until 5 years ago we started
at 9.30am and 14.00pm. I changed the times so that the exams started at
the official starting time, however with the number of exams and
students we run the exams staff feel they need to start at 7.30 to
enable them to get sorted for invigilators arriving.
Our invigilators set up the rooms and are given 45mins prior, so they
start arriving around 7.45-8.15am.
