Dear Colleagues,
A final, last minute reminder... We would like to invite you to submit an abstract to the following AGU Session this Fall in San Francisco: deadline for abstract submissions is 4th August 2011: http://sites.agu.org/fallmeeting/
T53: The Character and Evolution of Fracture Systems in Crystalline Rocks
Faults and fractures hosted in crystalline rocks control the strength, geophysical and fluid transport characteristics of much of the Earth’s crust. The geology, geometric attributes and mechanics of exhumed fault zones influence deformation processes on different scales and the ability of these rocks to host fluid-related resources and wastes; e.g. minerals, water, hydrocarbons, nuclear waste, CO2.
We invite contributions from research focused on the relationships between fault mechanics, fluid-rock interactions and petrophysical properties, particularly those relevant to earthquake source mechanics, fault interactions and reactivation, fluid redistribution in the crust, and plate-boundary dynamics.
