The Institute of Mineralogy and Economic Geology at RWTH Aachen University invites
applications for a research associate (Akad. Rätin/Rat auf Zeit) position in Economic
Geology, starting 1st of October 2011. The position is initially limited to 3 years, with a
possible extension for another 3 years. Our research focuses on the geology, mineralogy,
and geochemistry of metal and non-metal ore deposits, including processes of ore formation
and physicochemical aspects of hydrothermal metal transport and deposition. Further
research topics include magmatic and metamorphic petrogenesis and environmental
geochemistry. The institute runs an EPMA, XRD, XRF, ICP-OES, LA-ICP-MS, GF-AAS which

Your profile:
- An M.Sc or comparable degree in Geosciences and a PhD/Dr. degree
- Background in mineralogy, geochemistry and/or ore geology
- Experience in fluid-inclusion analysis
- Experience in teaching
Your duties and responsibilities:
The candidate will present courses in mineralogy and economic geology. The teaching duty
is 4 SWS (4 hours per week during lecture terms).
