medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Sorry, "right from the start" does sound a bit odd - what I mean is that they are found among names that can reasonably assume to be "real" in the 11th c. This is not the time or the place to discuss the accuracy of Icelandic genealogy!
The prominence of "Thor" as the first element of names in Iceland has been remarked upon, and taken as evidence
that the large number of W Norwegian farmers who settled Iceland venerated that god as opposed to Odin or Freyr.

"lįkr' would be a variant of 'leikr' with and related to words meaning 'to play'. Žorlįkr and Žorleikr were very common male names right from the start, and more likely to honor a male forebear than to have been chosen for their etymological sense - Icelanders had been Christian for a generation or two before Žorlįkr“s lifetime.

"Thor" is clear enough.
what does "-lįkr" mean, Meg?
is it negative ("Thor the Looser") or positive ("Beloved of Thor" ~=~
Godefredus)?
