The Forge - Summer School 2011 - 5th to 7th September - University of Leeds
The Summer School is a unique opportunity for PhD students and Early Career Researchers to meet, network and work with leading researchers to further their methodological and theoretical understanding, to develop skills for future careers and to have some fun! This year's Summer School is on the theme of 'Crises'. The programme will include talks and workshops led by experts from a range of disciplines:
· Professor John Urry, Lancaster University - Is social science capable of responding to the issue of peak oil?
· Dr Mark de Bruijne, Delft University - Institutions and crises, crises and institutions
· Dr Jo Guiver, UCLAN - The Ash Cloud 'Crisis' of 2010 - What did we learn?
· Dr Tim Ryley, Loughborough University - Resilience and the use of major transport networks
Attendees will also be expected to discuss their own research and to apply the lessons from the workshops in their own context.

Numbers are capped at 40 and last year's event was oversubscribed. There remain a small number of places for this year's event.
The event is subsidized and includes all food and accommodation. Fees are:
· PhD Student - £150
· Early career researcher - £200
