medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
According to the first response here <http://tinyurl.com/43a7fk3>, this Victoria has been described by a cathedral guide as an ancient martyr imported from Italy in the nineteenth century for the inauguration of Cádiz' then new cathedral. The cathedral was consecrated in June 1838. Here's a partial view of her:

Victoria seems to be displayed in an effigy reliquary.
Numerous "catacomb saints" -- i.e. skeletons from the catacombs piously thought to have been the remains of martyrs -- were distributed from Rome in the nineteenth century. An example familiar to readers of this list will be the Bibiana/Vibiana venerated in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles on 1. September and often confused with her better known Roman homonym of 2. December. The Victoria of the crypt in the cathedral of Cádiz seems to be one of these.
Best,
John Dillon
