medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
the small rural parish of Trull in Somerset started adding
pews before the Reformation, as did Tintinhull. There are
references in the churchwardens' accounts. Some of Trull's
probably date after the Reformation. The medieval rood
screen in Trull was never removed, so while they pews
might have been rearranged to accommodate more pews or new
liturgy, there were pews before the Reformation.
