Explore Our New Website on Culture and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)
The International Research Institute in Sustainability (IRIS) invites you to discover the new website of the UNESCO supported project: Linking Culture, Education and Sustainability: Good Practices and Experiences from Around the World”: http://insight.glos.ac.uk/SUSTAINABILITY/UNESCOCULTURE .
Launched in September 2010, the project aims to collect, analyse and share learning experiences that articulate cultural, socio-economic and environmental dimensions of sustainability. It was established as a contribution to the UN Decade in Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014).
The project website offers an opportunity for policy-makers and practitioners to learn about the Culture/ESD interface as an emerging field of practise and research. It showcases a wide range of projects from across the globe, that are rich in details and innovative in terms of how they have integrated cultural diversity components in ESD.
The website includes:
(i) A project introduction and context
(ii) A selection of examples of good practice
(iii) Project findings and key lessons learnt (to be uploaded shortly)
(iv) A range of relevant resources including images , videos and reports
(v) An opportunity to join the network of practitioners
To help with the navigation, we have developed a matrix which summarises the characteristics of the different projects featured on the webpages. We have also included abstracts and related material for each of the project showcased.
We hope that you enjoy navigating through the website and have an opportunity to learn more about good practices from around the world.
With kind regards,
Daniella Tilbury and Ingrid Mula
