medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
apologies for cross-listing
Dear all,
I have just posted another 69 images to my web site's historical
archive. As always, they have been incorporated into my indexing system;
but you can most easily see them all at the updated location pages:
http://www.kornbluthphoto.com/Ravenna.html (sarcophagi and capitals)
http://www.kornbluthphoto.com/Chelles.html (more textiles, and a lovely
Merovingian bird fibula, among other things)
http://www.kornbluthphoto.com/London1.html (BM through undated Roman;
includes the Celtic Battersea Shield)
http://www.kornbluthphoto.com/London2.html (BM 1st c. BCE/CE through
5th-7th c.; additions include an Early Christian lead tank with Omega
and Alpha flanking a Chrismon)
http://www.kornbluthphoto.com/London3.html (BM 6th-7th c. through 13th
c.; many additions, including an early medieval glass cameo from Whitby,
and humongous Irish-Viking fibulae)
I also have a question for any lurking Italophile, Ravenna-phile, or
anyone who knows about stoups or fonts. The last image on the Ravenna
page is an item in the museum there that was simply labeled 'stoup',
with no date, provenance, identification of the kind of stone, or
anything. I liked its lions and so photographed it, but have since found
no additional information anywhere. Can anyone help? Many thanks!
Best,
Genevra
