Dear zooarchers,
Has anyone ever encountered cattle scapulae with the perforation of a
butcher's hook through the scapula blade - a butchery pattern believed to
be characteristically Roman - in Late Neolithic context? Two neighbouring
sites in the Fens (Peterborough) both had these (one each) on metalled
surfaces which we excavated over the last ten years or so. Can I also add
that marks are very convincing, it is not post-dep and to those
particularly interested, I have some nice pics I could send out.
Thank you!
