Cate,
I have an extremely useful ecclesiastical calendar written in (gasp!)
DOS that plays well with children and Windows. It is the
product of a computer professor at the University of Kentucky about 35
years ago who was profoundly interested in the dates
of various feasts and festivals during the medieval and early modern
era. It contains not only the more generally used
'universal' calendar', but also gives one access to several local
calendars, which, from your question, you are aware differed
from place to place. It is explicitly freeware, available for the use
of any and all. It is small (193 KB). Moreover, I
have yet to be misled by it. The name is "Historical Calendar". Some
on the list may remember receiving 3,5" floppies
of it from me at Kzoo years ago. Any one on the list is welcome to a
copy. Simply contact me off list. It's one limitation
is that it does not supply dates and calendars after 1999. That should
not be a draw back for us.
All the best,
Frank
