This will be of interest to planners involved in setting and measuring institutional KPIs:
HEFCE is being recommended to introduce annual institutional sustainabillity assessments based on the following indicators:
Teaching and learning and the student experience - HEI chooses (1 or 2 KPIs, or an aggregated basket)
Research outputs and sustainability - HEI chooses (1 or 2 KPIs, or an aggregated basket)
Headline financial performance - Operating surplus (based on EBITDA) –rolling average of two plus three years actual and forecast
Financial health - Basket of [five] financial health indicators used by HEFCE –rolling average of two plus three years
Other – e.g. Physical infrastructure - HEI chooses (1 or 2 KPIs)

There is another conference on 23 June which will look in more detail at costing etc.
