Dear Planners,
See below a message from Jenny Skeet at HESA, who has contacted the National Planners Group. HESA would like feedback from planners on how best to send the results of the 2011 Longitudinal DLHE. They've contacted careers offices up to now - but careers offices are not necessarily the ones who will be analysing the data - so grateful that they have approached us! For those Planning Offices who are going to be leading on the Key Information Sets, this will be especially useful.

Publication of the 2006/07 DLHE Longitudinal survey
Dear colleague
You may be aware that the results of the 2011 Longitudinal Destinations Survey (based on 2006/07 leavers) will shortly be available. I write to you as nominated contact for your institution to invite your feedback on delivery of this information to HE institutions. I would be extremely grateful if you would take a few minutes to answer the questions below, replying to this email by close of Friday 27 May 2011.
For the 2009 survey, based on leavers from 2004/05 data files were supplied back to institutions by IFF Research. You will again receive your raw data files back from IFF.
1. Does the automated supply of raw survey data in the format provided by IFF (ASCII text files) provide your institution with data in an adequate format to enable all your onward analysis?
In 2009, we sent all contacts their complimentary copies of the published key findings report. We also provided institutions with the opportunity to download a set of summary tables and a Microsoft® Excel PivotTable® of your own data. The aim of this download was to provide institutions with data in a more readily accessible format for further analysis. Very few institutions took the opportunity to download this data however so we are considering alternatives.
2. Would you wish to see the provision of data in Microsoft® Excel PivotTable® format for institutions continue or would you prefer to see some other form of data delivery?
3. Would your institution be interested in being able to purchase a more tailored key findings report to reduce the requirement to analyse the data yourself? If so, what sort of content would you like to see included? Would you like this to include comparisons to institution groups or regions as well as the overall sector?
4. Do you have any other comments on how HESA might best assist the sector in making effective use of the results from this survey?
We look forward to hearing your responses. Please email to [log in to unmask]
Kind regards
