> Pathology services.
> It is the intention of Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust to establish a shared pathology service delivering comprehensive pathology services to both Trusts and to primary care within Berkshire and adjacent counties. The Trusts are therefore seeking expressions of interest from potential strategic partner(s) to develop an appropriate and innovative model of delivery. It is expected that the strategic partner(s) will bring capital investment and expertise in operational management, logistics and marketing to the relationship (with the specific aim of supporting the stakeholding Trusts in achieving optimal service efficiency within the first 12 months of any relationship whilst maintaining the quality of the existing services and the long term viability of the shared service model of delivery). The strategic partnership will be required to deliver no less than the following diagnostic services: Clinical biochemistry, haematology (including blood transfusion), immunology, microbiology and viral serology, cellular pathology services (including non gynaecological cytology), cervical cytology screening and histopathology. The strategic partnership will also be expected to provide full end-to-end pathology services including phlebotomy, logistics and I.T. communication solutions. The Trusts envisage that the contract period will be for a maximum period of 10 years however this may be subject to change as the full scope of the service, the form of the strategic partnership and the contract period will be developed and agreed during the competitive dialogue process.
